Ingredients:
- 1 pound pizza dough (store-bought or homemade)
- 1/2 cup pizza sauce (tomato sauce mixed with a pinch of salt and dried oregano)
- 8 ounces fresh mozzarella cheese, sliced
- 2-3 large ripe tomatoes, thinly sliced
- Fresh basil leaves
- Fresh oregano leaves
- Extra-virgin olive oil
- Salt and black pepper to taste
Steps:
- Preheat your oven to the highest temperature (usually 500-550°F or 260-290°C).
- On a lightly floured surface, roll out the pizza dough into a round or rectangular shape, depending on your preference.
- Transfer the rolled-out dough to a baking sheet or pizza stone lined with parchment paper.
- Spread the pizza sauce evenly over the dough, leaving a small border around the edges.
- Arrange the sliced mozzarella cheese and tomato slices on top of the sauce.
- Sprinkle fresh oregano leaves and torn basil leaves over the pizza.
- Drizzle some extra-virgin olive oil over the toppings, and season with a pinch of salt and black pepper.
- Place the pizza in the preheated oven and bake for about 10-12 minutes or until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbly and slightly browned.
- Remove the pizza from the oven, let it cool for a minute, then slice and serve. Garnish with additional fresh basil and oregano leaves if desired.
